Factory FramesFactory Frames is the largest custom framer in New Zealand, with two branches in the Auckland area, one on the North Shore, the other in East Tamaki. Clients include artists, photographers and the craft community as well as the general public.
Factory Frames had two websites - Factory Frames (containing general information about the company and customising frames) and Frames Online (online sales of standard frames, mirrors etc). This caused confusion to the viewer.
When the product section expanded, making updates on a product-by-product basis became difficult, due to different information being required for the various product categories.
The content of both websites was migrated into one. The site structure and content were updated and re-aligned accordingly. A Flash animation on the homepage now quickly introduces visitors to the business and what they do.
All product information was entered into an excel spreadsheet, which was then used to create the display of products. The display of product information is automatically determined by product categories.
A customised application was developed whereby website visitors can select a framed mirror or oil on canvas and then view it in a room setting, to get an approximate idea of aspect ratio. Once they are happy with this, they are immediately able to add the product to their cart and order.
Adding, deleting and editing products is now a breeze for Factory Frames, when using a single spreadsheet to load. The customised application is well used with positive feedback being received and an overall increase in orders as a result.
"The team at NZIS were amazing in helping us to take our vision for a more interactive website and bring it to life. Our canvas upload section in particular was built from the ground up by NZIS and was the first of its kind anywhere. The online sales that have been generated are also a testament to their ability to create search engine optimisation key words and phrases that match what our customers are looking for. Approximately 75% of our sales are through customers finding us first time via a search engine search, and from a business perspective that is exactly what you are after."
